Once again for the 2nd consecutive time, Cycle World magazine has awarded the BMW K 1200 GT as one of the bike models that is included in the 32nd Annual Cycle World Ten Best Bikes. Just like last year, the BMW K 1200 GT also bagged the award for Best Sport-Touring Bike category. The complete list of the winners will be featured in the July issue of Cycle World magazine.
Arturo Pineiro, vice president of BMW Motorrad USA: "We are honored to have earned the same spot on Cycle World’s coveted top ten list with the same motorcycle for the second time in a row. This is the 14th year BMW has been chosen for a top ten award."
BMW also said the K 1200 GT has strengthened and improved the motorcycle tourer segment since its launch. The K 1200 GT comes with enhancements in both technical and aesthetic side. Highlights of this model include:
- BMW Duolever wheel guidance systems at the front
- EVO Paralever at the rear
- Electrically adjustable windshield.
- Fully controlled three-way catalytic converter
- High-performance EVO brake system with semi-integral ABS anti-lock brakes
- Electronic immobilizer
- Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA
- Xenon headlight
- BMW Navigator
- 1157cc 4-cylinder engine with 152 bhp
Pineiro added: "Given all of these enhancements, features and options, the new K 1200 GT is able to meet the very highest standards of comfort so important to the passionate touring rider, while, at the same time, making the sporting heart of the die-hard motorcycle enthusiast truly skip a beat."
Meanwhile, check out the review for the BMW K 1200 GT according to Cycle World editors.
"It’s hard to figure out what the K1200GT can’t do. Its 150-plus-hp engine is capable of breathtaking acceleration, and its sophisticated shaft-drive chassis (with available adjustable-on-the-fly suspension) is fully at home decimating the backroads, droning the interstates or anything in between. A highly protective full-coverage fairing, an electrically adjustable windshield, a cushy dual seat and spacious, quick-detach saddlebags provide all-day or all-week comfort and convenience. You can complement the basic package by choosing from a mile-long list of options that include heated seat and grips, cruise control, GPS navigation, Xenon headlight and stability control. Sport-touring can be the most challenging segment of the sport, since it tries to combine the best from opposite ends of the streetbike spectrum, but for the K1200GT, it’s a no-brainer."

Once again for the 5th time, Australian rider Casey Stoner landed his victory at the 2007 British GP for the 2007 season of MotoGP, despite of the slippery and dangerous race track at Donington Park. Stoner rode his No. 27 Ducati Desmosedici GP7 to the finish and earned the 1st place, while Colin Edwards (FIAT Yamaha) and Chris Vermeulen (Rizla Suzuki) followed him in the podium.
Casey Stoner commented:
"This proves to people that the Ducati doesn’t just have power. We’ve been improving the bike and now it doesn’t have any particular weak points, we just need to improve it as a complete package. Obviously today it was the best bike out there. I got a perfect jump at the start, a perfect clutch release, but then I must’ve hit a white line and it spun up straight away. I was panicking a little bit because everybody was zooming past and I thought I’d be last into the first corner. We still got in there in a reasonable position and we were able to pick our way through. Colin seemed to be nice and smooth, but I knew I could go quicker. Then I saw the track getting drier and drier."
"I was worried about destroying the rear tyre, so I started going over all the wet patches. When we got to the last five laps the tyre still had a pretty good feeling and it looked pretty good at the end of the race, considering it was our softest option. I’m not looking at the championship yet, I’m just enjoying all these races whether I win or don’t finish on the podium. It’s just nice to be out there, I’ve got the confidence in myself and in the bike to really get involved in the race and really enjoy it."
Check out the other podium finishers said after the race.
Colin Edwards (2nd): "We had good race! I had a great start, better than any of my practice ones during the weekend, and then I just got my head down and kept pushing lap after lap. My bike was feeling good in the wet but then it started to dry out. I started braking a bit harder and feeling more confident, but then the front locked once into the chicane which gave me a bit of a scare. Then at the next corner, down at the hairpin, I locked it again, ran wide and Casey came through. After that I tried everything but I couldn’t stay with him and it was clear that I didn’t have the grip he had."
Chris Vermeulen (3rd): "It was very wet to start with and then dried out later on and that made the conditions very difficult. But my team and Bridgestone deserve full marks for picking the best tyres for today — they certainly knew what they were doing! I also want give my crew an extra special thank-you because for the second day running I crashed heavily in the morning and they again managed to get the bike rebuilt in time, so thanks guys! As far as the race went, I felt comfortable early on, but then had some trouble seeing through my visor. A couple of riders came past me and I ran off the track, I was struggling to see so much that I could have hit a wall or a spectator or anything and not have known! When the rain stopped I was able to lift my visor up a bit and that cleared the misting and I was able to push harder again."

The recent race at Catalunya circuit for the 7th round of the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix (MotoGP) was the most exciting race this season so far.
Three drivers namely Casey Stoner (Ducati Marlboro), Valentino Rossi (FIAT Yamaha), and Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda, Honda RC212V equipped with Honda brake disc) rode their bikes battling for the 1st place. At the end, Casey Stoner took home the victory after 25 laps leaving Rossi behind with only a mere 0.069 seconds and Pedrosa with 0.390 seconds behind the checkered flag. Whew! What a close fight. More than 100,000 race fans have witnessed the three-man racing battle in Catalunyan GP.
Stoner still leads the MotoGP World Championship with a total of 140 points, Rossi in the 2nd place with 126 points, and Dani Pedrosa in the 3rd spot with 98 points.
Check out the comments made the top 2 drivers after the Catalunyan GP race.
Casey Stoner, winner, Ducati Marlboro Team:
"Going into this weekend we weren’t sure how things would go. At Mugello we had a few difficulties and we thought it might be the same here. On Friday we weren’t exactly on the pace, we were losing a lot in a couple of areas. Fortunately, the team worked really hard, we came up with a solution on Saturday morning and since then we’ve kept the bike exactly the same. The whole team did a great job this weekend and proved wrong people who said we can’t win on European tracks. There were some nice passing maneuvers going on everywhere. All three of us had our strong points and our weak points around the circuit, I was just trying to minimize my weak points and cover my lines, and it worked out. It was such a close race, no one could go away, it was very, very enjoyable to be racing that close. It was really good because our bike was set up quite well for the braking points, so for Valentino to pass us he usually had to run wide and we were able to pass him back immediately a lot of times. The way the team has set up the bike for me is fantastic, and the Bridgestones worked great again, at a circuit where they’ve struggled in the past, so they’ve really changed things around. Today was another great race for us, I’m still not thinking about the championship, maybe later in the season we can really start aiming for that."
Valentino Rossi Position: 2nd, FIAT Yamaha Team
"What a race! Even if I’m disappointed not to win, it’s a great emotion to be part of a race like that and fantastic fun. It really was an amazing battle to the end with many wonderful overtaking maneuvers by both of us in all different parts of the track! Unfortunately I lost a bit of time at the start and then it was quite hard to pass Hopkins because he was fantastic on the brakes. Then with Stoner it was a great fight and honestly I couldn’t have tried harder to win, but he was a very hard rival. There were some places were we could have been better today, not just on the straight but also in some corners, but anyway it was a great experience and it will help us to understand what we need to do to keep on improving. Yamaha and Michelin are working very hard and the fact that we could fight like this today to the very end showed this. Of course I’m sad because I’ve won a lot of times here in Montmelo and I wanted to win again, but like I said, I don’t think I could have done anymore today! We know that we can beat Stoner but today he rode like a god and he’s a fantastic rival, so congratulations to him."

Once again, Ricky Carmichael of Suzuki team landed the victory at the Mototees Southwick National, the round 3 of 12 of the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship presented by FMF. This is his 99th AMA Motocross win and 147th of his entire career.
"Seven years of training (with trainer Aldon Baker) really pay off at a track like this. I’ve done pretty well here over the years, but let me tell you, it doesn’t make it any easier," says Ricky Carmichael. "It is really special and meant a lot to me. To be honest, it’s the only reason that I came here. I wasn’t planning on coming to race Southwick but the Proclamation changed my mind." He added.
Kawazaki’s James Stewart and Yamaha’s Grant Langston, joined Carmichael in the podium. The two riders finished the race 2nd and 3rd overall, respectively.
